We’ll walk along the ring wall mentioned by Dante Alighieri in the Divina Commedia; children in your group will particularly enjoy trying on the heavy armor of Medieval knights in the village museum.
Then it’s on to nearby Abbadia Isola, a splendid abbey founded in 1001 and an important landmark along the Via Francigena.
For lunch, we’ll stop in a tiny Medieval burg on a side road of the Francigena, graced with a little Romanesque church, and in the afternoon we’ll head to San Gimignano, which owed its 13th-century flowering to its location along pilgrim road.
